HOMEMADE CHERRY JAM🍒

Making jam at home is an absolute treat and worth spending the time on. You don't have to make big batches nor do you have to can every jam. Whenever i used to go to hotels for breakfast i would try all sorts of jam and always wanted to make them at home. And now its the cherry season so it can be easily made.

NOTES:

  1. Always use a heavy bottom saucepan.

  2. Use clean knife and chopping board while pitting the cherries.

  3. Discard the cherries that do not look healthy.

  4. You can use this jam for cakes and icecreams.

  5. Suppose after storing the jam it crystallises just heat it in microwave or cook it on a saucepan.

INGREDIENTS-

Pitted cherries - 1 cup (Seedless cherries)

Granulated sugar - 3/4 cup

Lemon juice - 1tbsp

Prep time - 30 mins PROCESS-

  1. Place a saucer in the freezer for 10mins.

  2. Take a non stick heavy bottom saucepan add all the cherries, sugar and lemon juice into it at medium flame.

  3. Stir it continuously on a medium flame until the sugar dissolves. A foamy texture can be seen while stirring the mixture.

  4. When the sugar dissolves turn off the medium heat and simmer it for 20mins on a very low flame.

  5. After almost 15 to 20 minutes you will see the mixture has darkened, thickened and reduced.

  6. Take out the saucer from the freezer and pour a very small amount of jam onto the saucer. When the mixture wrinkles after you touch it your jam is ready.

  7. Fill it in your choice of the container and serve it with a toasted bread.
